Everyone at home is invited to the Fabulous Faces session, you’ll sit together, choose whose portrait you’re going to make out of clay and then work hard to impress them with your observational skills!
Maybe Mum will do a portrait of Dad? What if Dad chose to do a portrait of the Dog? What if the dog chose to do a portrait of you?!
You will learn about rolling, cutting, layering and texturing clay to make a 3D portrait of a face. You will use lots of different pottery tools to draw and inscribe, make patterns and textures. How do you make a nose stick out? How do you ‘draw’ eyelashes with a potter’s pin? How do you make hair look curly through careful pattern making? How do you make glasses for Grandma?
Come and learn all this and more together, as a family, with artist Corinne Scurr at the Orchard Cafe.
All materials are included in the fee as well as expert tuition from Corinne.
Corinne has been practicing ceramics for over ten years. Since completing a degree in Contemporary Crafts in 2010 she has developed a practice of slab building and surface decoration using textured tools and coloured ceramic slips.
Her work is mainly tile based with hand-drawn, surface designs and some freestanding multi-layered tile dioramas.
You can see more of Corinnes work online at www.thekilnhouse.blogspot.co.uk and keep up to date with her most recent projects on Instagram: @cozzieanne, and Facebook: Corinne Anne.
