Longy | 500 gigs in 1 year

Date/Time

7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

The Orchard Cafe,

LONGY is attempting a world record by playing 500 live shows in one year.

Join us at the Orchard Cafe on Friday 1 December

to help Longy take the total into the 300s.

Longy has been playing music since he was a child, receiving his first guitar at 8, and has been a singer/songwriter almost as long! He has wide ranging musical influences and calls his music Gospel Trash, writing evocative songs which display his love of lyrics and squeezing every ounce of expression from an acoustic guitar (Spindle 2015).

He has a long history of busking across London and a humorous and people-centric approach to promotion – note his social media campaign #whoislongy. A couple of achievements to whet your appetite until you come and see him perform at OPEN…

2013 – Demo of the Year (XFM London) for self released debut EP

2013 – Filled Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen on a Tuesday night during the tube strike

2014 – Late night conversation led to national media believing he would be filling the headline slot at the 2014 Glastonbury Festival

2014 – Performed at a string of festivals including A Secret Garden Party and a main stage performance at Village Green Festival, with a marching drum band and a 25 piece gospel choir

2014 – November in New York with band member The Feralchild playing all over Brooklyn and a packed out gig at Rockwood Music Hall in Manhattan.

2015 – Second EP released over a period of five weeks, with a different track hidden on a CD in five different UK cities with only cryptic tweets to guide fans to the locations. Each track was found in under two hours. The EP was only made available once all the tracks had been found, making “Trash Talkin Filthy Love” the worlds first ever fan released record!

2017 – Launched attempt to play live at 500 gigs in one year on 29 April

17 Nov 2017 – Released new single Primark Hospital Blues from the forthcoming EP “The Illusionist”
