A step by step tutorial in the art of Madhubani Painting
This workshop focuses on traditional forms with the authentic style of painting using tools to give the original feel of the state of Mithila. It is the art of Painting using natural colours which is now replaced with acrylics, watercolours, inks and poster paints with intricate decorative designs and mark-making techniques drawn with wooden sticks, pens, and black markers are used creatively to fill.
The workshop is ideal for anyone aged 16+ and no prior experience is required.
The aim is to enjoy this art as a form ofmindfulness and art therapy AND you get to take back the beautiful painting that you make.
All the materials and equipment needed for the session will be provided.

About the Tutor:
Komal Madar is a British Indian painter. Her work incorporates materials such as, heavily textured impasto, pigment powders, straw, textiles, found objects, and various other mixed-media.
She studied at the prestigious UAL Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design and Byam Shaw. Visually, Komal seeks for an element of beauty and mystery in her work, and for the point of entry to be intriguing to evoke an emotion in people. Her work embraces a rich, bold and vibrant palette and takes on three distinct forms; imagined and re-imagined Landscapes; her Indian heritage and the spiritual concepts of Hinduism and abstract paintings.
” I want the viewer to go on a journey that not only highlights my visions of colour but also offers an insight into my own subconscious/ spiritual state and my interest in ideas around transcendence.
Komal has enjoyed the success of exhibiting her work both inside and outside of the UK and has also been a twice-shortlisted artist at La Galleria Pall Mall for the Royal Arts Prize Exhibition in London. She held her first solo exhibition at the Hyatt Place Hotel in West London, (April 2018) where sheshowcased a large collection of her work;including paintings which featured in world leading names like Vogue, House and Garden, The World of Interiors, and Inside Artists magazine.Shehas undertaken commissioned art works for well renowned establishments, and sold paintings and Limited Edition prints worldwide.
