You will:
The course will be split into mini projects. Each project is purposeful, practical, clearly defined and starts with an engaging stimuli. The stimuli may be in the form of a brief, the work of a particular artist or simply the introduction of a new technique or medium.
Materials: Basic materials will be provided & advice given on materials best to invest in. We do ask you to bring an A4 size sketchbook to the first session. This will be a working scrapbook to take notes during classes, collect visually inspiring images, stick in samples of techniques you have practiced in class, note useful websites, books or apps, any relevant research you have undertaken & found of interest.
Level: Intermediate. Basic painting & drawing skills are required.
Please note there is no class on the following dates: 16 & 30 May, 20 June and 18 July
About The Tutor
Sam Rough is a practicing artist who completed a BA (Hons) in Fine Art (Painting) in 1994, where her work focused on issues around cultural identity & diaspora. She is also an experienced educator and qualified teacher with over 12+ years experience working in various educational settings; training & developing staff in a business arena, teaching in schools & more recently running classes at OPEN Ealing.
Her aim is to stimulate & develop students creativity, develop skills & techniques in a friendly, supportive environment. Her courses cover theory & practice and are the perfect combination for students to progress confidently.
She exhibits regularly; exhibitions include Affordable Art, W3 Gallery. Art Hits The Street, W3 Gallery, Ealing Autumn Festival Truth and reconciliation tour and Driving In The Dark, Questors Theatre. More recently, A Hard Place Pop up gallery, Bond Street, W5, Surface Tension at the W3 Gallery, Acton and BEAT (Borough Of Ealing Open Studios). She also works to commission.
