A series of workshops aimed at 8 – 14 year olds covering a range of artistic mediums. Working with tutors who are all specialists in their field the students will be encouraged to create a body of work that is impressive in both scope and quality.
Week One = triumph! some amazing fantasy islands and jungles created…
Monday 7 & Tuesday 8 August | Corinne Scurr helps the class create their fantasy island out of clay. In the first session they develop the ideas and work out how they can create their island in clay. Over the next three sessions they turn their sketches into a 3D clay model using techniques from coiling to slab.
Wednesday 9 & Thursday 10 August | Grace Holmstock explores jungle life and shows to make a vibrant piece of art using collage – think Rousseau.
Week Two = very interesting river scene and wonderful masks
3D sculptures with Sheila Moylan and Grace Holmstock covering different topics and Gillian Wood rounding off the week with a magical trip into your imaginations…

Monday 21 August | Pacific North West art fish – Printmaking using foam scratchboard and incising to create a circular picture
Tuesday 22 August| Dale Chihuly recycled bottles sculpture based on under the sea -jellyfish, fish, seaweed etc etc
Wednesday 23 August | Fantastical aerial landscapes – using card, tissues, paper and glue explore textures
Thursday 24 August | Art Nouveau Dragonflies and Alliums
Friday 25 August | Collage using old paper maps to create shapes of birds in a landscape…. and an interpretation of a never ending journey Victorian myriorama-type picture
Week Four = Last week
29 August – 1 September | Alan Smith helps students maximise their potential in creating a short stop motion animation around the Fantasy Island theme
Do join us this summer; it is a marvellous way to spend time with friends, make new ones and have fun whilst making art.
* We have two sessions a day: 10am to 12pm and 1.30 -3.30pm
* Even if you can only make one session your child will achieve something meaningful
* All materials are provided
* For those coming for the whole day, you can either supply a packed lunch, or Chef Vix Rathour will provide lunch for £5/head
* Discounts apply for those attending the whole week and siblings. We have detailed prices for two siblings attending the workshops. We are delighted to announce that we have introduced a further rate for families with 3 or more children attending.
