An interior designer can design your room, an architect can design your building, but a work of art can define you
– Gallerist Johnny Messum
Ealing based artist, Stella Tooth, will be exhibiting work from her Busker series at Kellie Miller Arts in Brighton next month. Stella’s speciality is portraiture. She says of her art, “My art stems from curiosity about those with whom we share this global village, particularly the melting pot that is London. I now work out of my west London studio as a figurative artist, following a 20 year career as a journalist and senior news PR for BBC and Sky News. With a lifetime’s passion for reportage, I tell the stories – often in words as well as picture – of the buskers, musicians and dancers that inspire my art, exploring themes of separation and connection. Fascinated in the interplay between illustration and fine art, I seek to blur their boundaries.”
Winner of the judges’ prize at Egypt’s first biennale (2013), I studied for five years at Heatherley’s on the school’s Continuing Studies, Diploma and Post Diploma in Portraiture courses. I have exhibited at the Milan Expo and the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and National Open Art exhibitions (2015). I also tutor drawing in the inspiring surrounds of the V&A, National Portrait Gallery and Tate Britain for Sketchout.
