The Bagri Foundation presents Strauss Reflected

Saturday 4 November

Cadogan Hall London

The Bagri Foundation presents a unique evening of Hindustani and Western Classical Music, which offers an exploration of the Strauss dynasty. This special event, hosted by Classic FMs John Suchet, brings together Hindustani Classical Vocalist Meeta Pandit, and David Murphy, from Ravi Shankar’s opera Sukanya, who will conduct his chamber orchestra Sinfonia Verdi, who have previously collaborated with the likes of Ustad Amjad Ali Khan.

With his contagious enthusiasm and extraordinary storytelling skills, John Suchet, author of The Last Waltz: The Strauss Dynasty and Vienna, in Strauss Reflected, unravels the family’s tensions, dramas and triumphs and provides the audience with key elements to appreciate their music. The concert sheds fresh light on the shared roots of western and eastern musical traditions. Sinfonia Verdi will perform some of the Strauss masters’ most famous orchestral scores, which will be interspersed with improvised interpretations of their inner turmoil by the scion of the Gwalior Gharana, Meeta Pandit.
