08 Mar Sun 26 Mar 12.30pm – Pitshanger Village – Walking, Talking & Exploring tour
|Ealing Walking, Talking and Exploring Group|
welcomes you to the tour of The lovely Pitshanger Village area; Hosted by Joanna Dudzinska
When: Sunday, March 26th, from 12.30 PM – 3 PM
Meeting point: Ealing Broadway Station entrance, New Ealing Broadway, W5 2NU, London.
This walk will take us across Ealing Haven towards an area often referred to as Pitshanger Village with a pretty village-like street called Pitshanger Lane which was crowned “best high street in London” in 2015. There will be a lot to see and talk about including Brentham Sports Club, St Barnabas’ Church, a war memorial and Brentham, the first garden suburb in London to be built on cooperative principles. We will walk through Pitshanger Park by the river Brent and across the golf course to end the tour at the medieval St Mary’s Church in Perivale. You may like to stay with me at the church for ‘THE BRONTE VOICES’, a dramatised reading celebrating the Bronte family by Robin MacGibbon (entry free – with retiring collection), take a 10-minute walk via a footbridge over Western Avenue to Perivale tube station (Central line) or go back to Pitshanger Lane and catch one of the buses back to Ealing Broadway.
The tour costs £10 per person and accompanying children can come free of charge. Join in if you want to see bits of London that are off the beaten track, learn about this area, meet new people and/or practise your English.
